Endodontics

About the service

Endodontics is a dental procedure performed in order to treat the nerve of the teeth, known as dental pulp. This discipline of dentistry is crucial to avoid dental pain and preserve teeth, because when the dental pulp becomes infected or inflamed, it can produce a sensation of intense pain that can affect the patient’s quality of life.

At Dental Unit, endodontics is one of our specialties, we have the best technological resources and a highly trained team to perform the treatment safely, effectively and painlessly.

One of the main reasons why endodontics is performed is dental caries. Tooth decay can affect the surface of the tooth and if not treated in time, it can reach the dental pulp, causing acute pain and infection. At Dental Unit, we have an apical locator, which allows us to identify the exact length of the root canal, which facilitates treatment and minimizes the possibility of complications.

Another reason for root canal treatment is tooth fracture. If the tooth fracture is deep, it can affect the dental pulp and cause pain. At Dental Unit, we use a rotary preparation system, which allows us to clean and disinfect the root canal effectively, without causing discomfort to the patient.

In some cases, root canal therapy may be necessary to prevent a tooth from having to be extracted. Tooth extraction is an invasive procedure that can be painful and have long-term consequences, such as bone loss in the jaw and changes in the bite. For this reason, endodontics is a preferable alternative to save the tooth and avoid long-term problems.

At Dental Unit, in addition to conventional endodontics, we also offer endodontic treatment with thermoplastic obturation. This system allows us to obtain a hermetic seal of the root canal, minimizing the possibility of reinfection of the treated tooth. In addition, the thermoplastic obturation allows a three-dimensional sealing of the root canal, which improves the predictability of the treatment and reduces the possibility of failures.

It is important to mention that endodontics is not a painful procedure. Although the process may require several visits to the dentist, at Dental Unit we use local anesthesia and conscious sedation techniques, which ensures that the patient does not feel pain during the treatment.

At Dental Unit, our priority is patient safety. That is why before starting any endodontic procedure, we perform a complete evaluation of the patient in order to determine if there are any complications that may affect the treatment. In addition, we use rigorous sterilization and disinfection techniques to minimize the risk of infection and ensure a safe environment for the patient.

Endodontics is an important procedure for long-term dental health. However, it is important to mention that not all cases of dental pain require endodontics.
